The Department of English, K.C. Das Commerce College was established in 1983 with 107 students. The Department strives for enrichment of the language and providing depth aesthetic knowledge and to appreciate the language in its ingenuity to the students.

A guest lecture on English Communication Skills was organized by the Department of English, KC Das Commerce College on April 8, 2024, in Conference Hall 2 of the college premises. The event was honored by the presence of Dr. Tasrina Iqbal, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Handique Girls' College, who served as the esteemed resource person. Dr. Iqbal delivered an enlightening session focusing on listening, speaking, and interpersonal communication skills. The lecture was highly interactive, with students actively engaging in discussions and exchanging ideas with the speaker. The Department of English, K.C. Das Commerce College, in collaboration with the IQAC, organized an insightful guest lecture on May 3, 2025, at 3 p.m. in Conference Hall-1. The lecture, titled “Reading Essays: Funny or Fuzzy”, featured Mr. Nipon Nath, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Gauhati Commerce College, as the distinguished resource person. The event commenced with a warm welcome address and felicitation of the guest by Dr. Prarthana Barua, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of English. In his engaging and thought-provoking talk, Mr. Nath shed light on the various dimensions of reading essays, exploring both the humorous and nuanced aspects of the genre. The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students, whose interaction with the speaker led to a dynamic and meaningful exchange of ideas. Mr. Nath also offered valuable practical tips and techniques for effectively reading and writing essays, enriching the participants' understanding and approach to essay composition. The programme concluded on a gracious note with a vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Archana Bora, Assistant Professor, Department of English, K.C.
