RED RIBBON CLUB AND HEALTH & HYGIENE CELL

The Red Ribbon Club is a voluntary on-campus intervention program for students in educational institutions. It is initiated and supported by the State AIDS Control Society and implemented through multi-sectorial collaboration, particularly using the services of cadre officers of the State National Service Scheme (NSS).

The Red Ribbon Club in the educational institutions seek to initiate efforts to educate youth with correct, concise and adequate information and heighten their level of awareness about HIV/AIDS/STI/sexuality and other related issues. It also enables youth, especially the female students to indentify and understand situations of exploitation and abuse. It tries to sensitise the youth and instil in them the spirit of helping and supporting the people living with HIV/AIDS and reduce the stigma and discrimination against them. The RRC increases youths’ access to health care services related to STI/HIV/AIDS/drug use.
